Corona Dental is a full-service dental clinic in Barcelona. It has been operating since 2009 in the Esquerra de l'Eixample district, a two-minute walk from Rocafort metro station. The clinic occupies its own 250 m² premises, which house four treatment rooms, an X-ray room, and a dental laboratory. Thanks to this setup, diagnostics, treatment, and the fabrication of crowns and prosthetics are all performed in one place: patients do not need to be referred to an external diagnostic center and wait several days for results.
Consultations are conducted in Russian, Spanish, English, and Ukrainian — directly by the doctors, without an interpreter or accompanying person. The treatment plan, estimate, and recommendations are provided to the patient in their preferred language, which is especially important when agreeing on treatment stages and costs.
Over the years, the clinic has built a database of more than 9,000 patients, and 65% of new inquiries come through referrals. For us, this is the main indicator of quality: a referral cannot be bought; it can only be earned through results.

Corona Dental Services
At Corona Dental, you can get consultations and assistance in the following areas:
- Diagnostics: computed tomography, orthopantomography, periapical X-rays, intraoral 3D scanning with the 3Shape TRIOS scanner, and photodocumentation. Examinations are performed in the clinic using the Carestream CS 8200 3D Advance Edition system, with results available during the appointment.
- Therapeutic dentistry: treatment of caries with light-curing fillings, restoration of partially damaged teeth, Icon infiltration without drilling, treatment of enamel hypersensitivity.

- Implantology: immediate, two-stage, and basal implantation, All-on-4 and All-on-6 protocols for complete tooth loss, bone volume restoration, bone grafting, and sinus lifting. We use Straumann, Nobel Biocare, Sweden & Martina, and Odontit systems.
- Prosthetics: crowns and bridges made of zirconia and E-max, implant-supported prosthetics, partial and complete removable dentures, temporary prostheses during treatment.
- Orthodontics: bite correction for adults and children, clear aligners Spark and Straumann, metal, ceramic, and sapphire bracket systems, children's orthodontic plates, bruxism splints.

In most Spanish clinics, root canal treatment is performed by a general dentist — between fillings and routine checkups. Yet endodontics remains the most technical part of therapeutic dentistry: it is precisely an untreated canal that most often leads to repeat intervention and, subsequently, tooth loss.
At Corona Dental, this work is carried out by a dedicated specialist with 15 years of experience, and it is performed under a microscope. Root canals measure fractions of a millimeter in diameter, branch out, and often do not follow the path one might assume from anatomical charts. Under magnification, the doctor finds canal orifices that are impossible to detect with the naked eye — and this directly determines whether a tooth will last ten years or require retreatment within two years.
In-House Dental Laboratory
Crowns, ceramic veneers, inlays, and prostheses are manufactured in a specialized dental laboratory with a large team of experienced technicians for whom aesthetic restorations are one of the main areas of work. This format allows us to involve specialists with relevant qualifications for each case and ensures a high level of quality control at all stages of fabrication.
The work of the dentist and the dental technician is carried out in close collaboration. Before the fabrication of the restoration, the clinical features of the case are discussed, and when necessary, the technician participates in the color selection and evaluation of the aesthetics of the future restoration. This is especially important when working in the smile zone, where not only the shape of the teeth matters, but also the translucency of the enamel, surface texture, individual shade characteristics, and how the restoration appears under different lighting conditions.
If adjustments to the color, shape, or micro-relief of the surface are required during the try-in, these changes are made before the final fixation of the restoration. This approach ensures a precise fit, a natural appearance, and a result that harmoniously blends with the patient's own teeth.
In-House X-Ray Department
Computed tomography, panoramic and periapical X-rays are performed directly in the clinic using the Carestream CS 8200 3D Advance Edition system, which provides high detail with a low radiation dose. The examination takes just a few minutes, and results are ready within five minutes during the appointment. This means the patient does not need to go to an external diagnostic center, wait for their turn, or schedule another visit to the doctor. The specialist immediately reviews the images together with the patient, explains the results in detail, and answers all questions.
Periapical X-rays are used to diagnose one or two teeth — for example, in cases of caries, assessment of root canal condition, or quality control of treatment. Panoramic X-rays provide a complete image of both jaws and allow assessment of the overall condition of the dentofacial system. Computed tomography is used when maximum diagnostic accuracy is required: for implant planning, root canal retreatment, extraction of complex teeth, preparation for orthodontic treatment, and other situations where three-dimensional visualization is necessary for making the right decision.
Initial Examination by Multiple Specialists
The first consultation involves two to three doctors: a therapist, a surgeon, and an orthodontist. This approach allows for a comprehensive assessment of the oral cavity and the development of a unified treatment plan that takes all aspects into account.
In many clinics, the initial appointment is conducted by a single specialist. If it turns out during treatment that prosthetics require orthodontic preparation or surgical intervention, the plan must be revised, and the patient must undergo additional consultations.

The main discomfort with conventional anesthesia comes not from the needle, but from the rapid infusion of the solution into the tissues, which is why we use computerized drug delivery — slow and controlled, making the injection virtually painless. For patients with a pronounced fear of treatment, sedation is available. Instruments undergo a full sterilization cycle in accordance with current Catalan health regulations, and all consumables are single-use.
For Patients Who Have Recently Moved to Spain
Treatment at a private clinic does not require a residence permit, Spanish identification number NIE, public health insurance card (tarjeta sanitaria), or municipal registration — a passport is sufficient. This applies to both tourists and those who are still in the process of obtaining their documents.
For adults, the Spanish public healthcare system covers dental care only to a limited extent. Generally, emergency care and some treatments related to urgent conditions are available free of charge. Most dental services — caries treatment, prosthetics, implantology, orthodontics, and professional hygiene — are provided on a private, fee-for-service basis. Therefore, having or not having a tarjeta sanitaria has virtually no impact on the ability to receive dental treatment.
After treatment is completed, the clinic issues official invoices and medical documentation confirming the services provided. If the patient has private health insurance with reimbursement options, these documents can be submitted to the insurance company for consideration of compensation in accordance with the policy terms.
Treatment Initiated in Another Country
Such treatment can be continued. It is advisable to bring the most recent X-rays, preferably in DICOM format rather than printed copies, as printed images do not allow the doctor to work with cross-sections. Also useful are the discharge summary or treatment plan, documents for the placed implants with the system article number, and a list of medications being taken — especially anticoagulants and bisphosphonates. If the documents have not been preserved, the system of the placed implant can usually be identified through computed tomography.
How the Spanish Protocol Differs from What You May Be Used To
The approach to dental treatment in Spain may differ from what patients from other countries are accustomed to. One such aspect is professional hygiene, which often marks the beginning of treatment. It is performed to eliminate gum inflammation and dental plaque, create optimal conditions for subsequent procedures, and enhance their effectiveness.
Before treatment begins, the patient receives a written plan and estimate (presupuesto) that outlines the scope of work, treatment stages, and their costs. After agreement, the document is signed by both parties. This procedure is standard practice and allows the patient to understand the cost of treatment in advance and avoid misunderstandings.
If treatment involves several complex procedures, it is usually carried out in stages. Intervals between stages are necessary for tissue healing, result monitoring, and preparation for the next stage of treatment in accordance with clinical recommendations.
